The Shepherd’s Pie opened on Memorial Weekend only a couple of days after the construction was finished. We had no outside sign, no outside lights, no listed phone number and no advertising.
Less than a year later we were nominated for a James Beard Award for Best New Restaurant.
We overlook beautiful Rockport Harbor, but we are more than just a pretty face.

Jim Haines has worked his way down from dishwasher years ago to manager today.
Previously he managed Francine Bistro in Camden before managing Shepherd’s Pie. He is way too smart to ever own a restaurant himself.
Brian Hill, Chef/owner
Brian Hill grew up on a farm in Warren, Maine. Briefly dabbled in music before starting his kitchen career working at such restaurants as Olives, Figs, Bayona in New Olreans, Aquitane, and the Linwood Grill.
He moved back to Maine to cook where he believes the food “just tastes better.”
